This is my favorite ending to any game, ever because I am dorky like that. Lol. I absolutely loved everything about Final Fantasy VIII and then the ending blew my mind. The whole Raine and Laguna part is my favorite part - I love how they finally let you see his proposal and you finally get to see them in FMV form so you can see how much Squall really looked like Raine, and even Laguna when he smiles. Ah... I love them. What a beautiful family.

For those that do not know, or had not figured out the irony of Final Fantasy VIII, I love being a geek so I will enlighten my readers. Early in the game you see Laguna meet a girl named Julia, who is a pianist in a bar he goes to and who he has had a huge crush on forever but was always too shy to go and meet. Well, when he finally did get the nerve, she ended up telling him that she always knew he liked her and always saw him staring at her, and she liked him, too and liked when he looked at her and he gave her the inspiration to write a song, since she only played a tune on the piano without any words. The next day he goes off to war and ends up.. basically vanishing and he presumed dead by most, including Julia. He ends up washing up somewhere and a girl named Raine takes him in and takes care of him. He ends up falling absolutely in love with her and marries her and adopts her daughter, Ellone. But Ellone has a power.. a power that the bad people in the game want, so they kidnap and Laguna goes off to save her and while he's away, all they say is "She got sick and died," more or less, but you are supposed to figure out that she died during childbirth. You see flashbacks of Squall in the orphanage when he is a small boy and he is with Ellone and calling her, "Big Sister". Julia ended up marrying General Caraway and giving birth to Rinoa. Later on in life Rinoa and Squall meet and fall in love and their song is "Eyes On Me" which is the song that Julia ended up writing about Laguna after he disappeared. It's all very sweet and wonderful like that. They don't tell you the entire game that Laguna and Raine are Squall's parents, but they give you a bunch of clues and then, in the ending movie, you see the first FMV of both Laguna and Raine, and you see a flashback and him smile just like Squall ends up smiling with the hair in his eyes and then you see Raine, who looks just like Squall in the hair color, the skin color, the eyes... so.. then you know and it's beautifully done.
